Partnering with local charities for the holiday season

Trying to define the past 365 days in a check or single contribution is difficult for even those with the best of intentions.

In lieu of an end of year celebration, The Garrity Group Public Relations team identified four local nonprofit charities to assist during the last month of the year. We call our outreach “A Different December."

2012 Different December

Here are the local organizations we are helping as a part of The Garrity Group’s 2012 Different December Program.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of New Mexico – Serving our state since 1982, RMHC-NM’s mission has remained constant: provide temporary lodging and respite services to families with critically ill children. The 30-room Albuquerque house, located adjacent to University Hospital, is a home to families who have seen their lives change in an instant. The Garrity Group will be making a meal this week for the House’s 100 guests. Learn more about the organization by visiting

The Barrett Foundation – Focusing on women and children, the foundation runs several programs including The Barrett House, an emergency shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness. The Garrity Group, partnering with the Barrett Foundation, is adopting one of the Bridges to Self-Sufficiency families for the holidays and will be fulfilling the family’s Christmas wish list. You can help in a variety of ways all of which can be found in the get involved and donate sections of their website,

Joy Junction – Serving as a place of refuge to those who have been forced onto the streets, Joy Junction helps homeless men, women, children, and families in Albuquerque by providing food, clothing, shelter, and safety. The faith-based church ministry serves as many as 300 individuals a night including as many as 60 to 80 children, every day. Among the ministries provided by the shelter, is an outreach of providing a blanket and meal to those on the streets. The Garrity Group is donating blankets for that outreach. Toys for Tots – The U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distributes those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community. The Garrity Group went shopping, purchasing lots of toys for boys and girls ranging from ages 4 – 8 years old. For more information about the program visit

Thank you to our clients and friends in the community for providing us the opportunity to help make this A Different December for people and families in need throughout New Mexico.
