If you’re an early bird, then you have more than likely seen Sara Yingling reporting on KRQE News 13 This Morning. Sara moved to New Mexico from Pennsylvania in November 2015 and has been loving it ever since.
Sara is our featured reporter for our new “Media Spotlight” blog so we asked her a few questions to get to know her better and see how she’s enjoying Albuquerque.
What brought you to our lovely city?
I was working for a TV station in Wheeling, WV. It’s a small market. As much as I liked being a big fish in a small pond, I knew to move up in the TV news industry, I would have to move to a bigger market. When my contract ended in October, my parents suggested I come out to Albuquerque to visit them with the little bit of free time I had on my hands. While I was out here, I interviewed with two TV stations and got job offers from both. I decided to go with KRQE News 13 based on the atmosphere and to be a part of the push to make the morning show the best of the three stations. I moved to New Mexico in the middle of November from Pittsburgh, PA. It took my dad and I three days to drive out here with my car, cat, and a minivan full of boxes.
It was the best decision I could have made. Although it can be difficult waking up at 2:30 a.m. every morning, I love working with the #WakeUpNM team. So far, I’ve covered the tumbleweed snowman, the giant tumbleweed wall, Sew Brave LLC, the ArcaBoard, and more.
What do you want people to know about you?
When I’m not at work, I am either working out at CrossFit Albuquerque, pursuing my dreams of making it to Regionals, or I’m watching a good documentary, TV show (the Walking Dead), or cooking and/or baking.
Last but not least, Green, Red or Christmas?
