Spaceport America Cup
Challenge
The New Mexico Partnership is a private entity that provides outreach for the State of New Mexico’ Economic Development Department. The Garrity Group, working as a part of the New Mexico Partnership’s media relations team, was tasked to position New Mexico as a state that is friendly to aerospace and aviation industries. The Garrity Group was brought on to amplify existing efforts of Spaceport America and the 2022 Spaceport America Cup, a competitive event that includes national and international collegiate teams.
Solution
The Garrity Group’s approach focused on outreach to national and trade media covering the aerospace/aviation industry. In addition, our team focused on coverage in markets where the New Mexico Partnership was conducting aerospace/aviation outreach. The Garrity Group dedicated a team to create news releases, reach out to media and created market specific VNRs for broadcast media. The Garrity Group also facilitated an on-site familiarization tour for media to learn more about Spaceport America.
Results
The Spaceport America Cup outreach accomplished its objectives with placements in Austria, Canada, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Switzerland and United States. In total, our efforts resulted in New Mexico’s aerospace/aviation story being shared with 95,382,405 people. We wer also successful in securing coverage about the event in each of the desired target media markets where the New Mexico Partnership was conducting outreach.
