Blog: A Latte of Team Chats
By Taeya Padilla
“Science may never come up with a better office communication system than the coffee break.”– Earl Wilson
The Garrity Group’s model to generate client successes is a mix of virtual work, Teams connectivity and group think/work at the Los Ranchos office. This approach works tremendously well. However, there is something sacred about the simple coffee shop meet-up.
Whether that is Los Ranchos Bakery (which we frequent often), Prado, Little Bear Coffee, Poulin Marketplace, the occasional Starbucks run, or a New Mexico Piñon Coffee at client’s office, our team connects in unique ways over the coffee catch-up.
Moving the conversation out of the office or off a screen, provides The Garrity Group team the opportunity to know and better understand each other’s personality and humor… after all, we all like to laugh!
As public relations professionals, we are an intuitive, creative types who value a good story and have a natural, healthy, curiosity about the people and events that shape our client’s needs. Some of the best conversations, do not happen during a scheduled meeting or over a Teams call. They happen over a cup of coffee when there is no agenda and no deadline.
What often starts as a chat about assignments and to-do lists turns into a discussion about music or weekend plans. Although those conversations may seem small, to us they are the most meaningful of all. We get a glimpse into the person behind the screen, which makes The Garrity Group feel less of a workplace and more of a community. We build relationships with clients, reporters and stakeholders every day, but it is just as important to build those relationships with the people sitting right across from us.
When crisis hits for a client or a team member feels a deep loss, it is certain that The Garrity Group community will be there to support each other every step of the way.
