Freeport McMoRan operates copper mines in Southwest New Mexico. Leveraging the Garrity Perception Survey, a scientific survey of New Mexico residents and specific insights related to perceptions of the mining industry, The Garrity Group provided insights on ways to connect with the community. This effort included design of a successful website that provides information about the mines, its community contributions and economic impact. Leveraging key messages that includes “more than mining,” “investing in the community,” and “Stewards of the environment” the website provides a needed conduit of information to the communities in Southwest New Mexico.
