Sandia National Laboratories & Los Alamos National Laboratory
Our strategic communications program ensured that key stakeholders were informed and engaged with the lab’s programs.
Challenge
Established as a unique outreach of Los Alamos National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories, the New Mexico Small Business Assistance (NMSBA) program is measured by the assistance provided by the labs to small businesses throughout New Mexico. Our challenge was to find a way to report the positive impacts to elected officials and community leaders.
Solution
The Garrity Group worked with NMSBA to provide communication and legislative strategy assistance for this one-of-a-kind small business technology assistance program. Our team developed annual legislative and stakeholder communication strategies that included an annual report, individual legislator reports, interim committee coaching and strategic communication tactics during the legislative session. The Garrity Group worked from an advisory committee communication plan developed to ensure all members are kept informed and are fully engaged in the program’s strategies.
Results
The Garrity Group successfully informed members of the legislature on the NMSBA program, which has been acknowledged by legislators and staff as one of the few tax incentive initiatives that has collected success and impact data. This program is recognized as a state model.
